It's almost time to leave their little hunting cabin and go back to the town, much as Athelstan and Ragnar might wish they could stay... but Athelstan's dog is nowhere to be seen.

Athelstan stands in the doorway, looking and calling for him, and finally he reappears, carrying something in his mouth.

"Fiachra? What have you got there?"

He crouches for a better look, frowning as it strikes him that doesn't look like a deer bone...

"Yes". He caresses Ragnar's back, moving against him. "All I could want."

Ragnar leans in and kisses him, gently and leisurely, as their hips easily find a rhythm to move with each other, in both unison and counterpoint.

"And you shall have it!"

He goes slow, very slow -- Athelstan has just spent mere minutes ago but, as Ragnar knows him, may do so again if taken slowly and thoroughly enough.

He's young and healthy, and his recovery time tends to be short. He smiles into the kiss.

"Yes. This is perfection."

Ragnar holds Athelstan's face between his hands as he keeps slowly thrusting into him. "I love you," he murmurs. "Our minds are made for each other, and so are our hearts, and our bodies."

"You're the other half of me", Athelstan agrees softly. "Though I know you loved Lagertha every bit as much, I couldn't be without you now."

"And you will not have to be, if I have anything to say about it," Ragnar says, kissing him.

Athelstan kisses him back, pulling him close.

"All my life is you."

Ragnar moves within him, slowly and insistently.

"The gods were ruthlessly generous, in giving you to me," he says.

"They made sure you found me first."

He matches Ragnar's pace, and pushes away memories of his brothers' faces.

"They made sure I felt at once that you were special and important," Ragnar answers. "As you still are, more than ever!"

"Even if you didn't know - why at first. Yes."

He stretches up for another kiss.

Ragnar kisses him, not stopping until he absolutely needs more breath, while he keeps thrusting, slowly and steadily.

Athelstan moans into Ragnar's mouth, pushing up against his thrusts.

His pleasure is building and the physical signs are obvious.

Ragnar dips his head to kiss Athelstan's throat, underneath his little beard.

"You are mine," he whispers against the tender skin. It's not a new thing, but still a marvel that bears repeating.

His hips move faster.

"Always yours", Athelstan whispers back, and wraps his arms tightly around Ragnar as they move together.

Ragnar lifts his eyes to look into Athelstan's face, wanting to see his pleasure rise and peak when it does.

It is always a lovely sight to him, even more so here and now, in sunlight and safety, where neither needs to keep anything back.

The sun on his skin brings a new element to all this, as he's never done it in the open air before.

He lifts a hand to Ragnar's face as their eyes lock.

Ragnar's hands are still cradling Athelstan's face, his fingers carding through the dark hair as he keeps thrusting.

It's been important to him, from his first time, to be able to look into his lover's eyes - whether that's Ragnar or someone else.

He leans in, stopping just short of a kiss, to whisper, "I love you."

"And I, you," Ragnar says, touching his nose-tip to Athelstan's with surprising gentleness while his hips keep thrusting steadily.

Athelstan closes the distance between them to claim Ragnar's lips, his hand sliding from Ragnar's cheek to the back of his neck.

Ragnar doesn't speak; but the intensity and feeling in his kisses speak for him.

It's the same for both of them, and it's the final trigger to push Athelstan to his peak. His fingers tighten on Ragnar's neck as his pace increases.

Ragnar thrusts a few more times as Athelstan is in the throes of pleasure; he feels his own control slipping, and then spill his seed into Athelstan, shouting with pleasure as he does.

For once, there is no reason to be quiet!

Athelstan arches against him, crying out over and over as his voice mingles with Ragnar's, until finally he's done and slumps back to the ground.
