While Ragnar chooses which root would be best for them, Athelstan walks slowly around the clearing, fascinated by the unfamiliar nature.

"You knew what I'd like." He turns his head for a lazy kiss. "And we do."

"We'll be on a road trip," Ragnar says, "and can do that as often as we want. And others things that are as much fun, or nearly."

"Under the stars", he says, thinking it out as he speaks, "or in private in motel rooms."

"With all the time in the world, to take all the pleasure that we can," Ragnar promises.

"It sounds... perfect."

"It will be," Ragnar says. "We're in no hurry."

He leans in to kiss Athelstan again.

He leans into it, his expression open and full of love.

"You are so amazing," Ragnar whispers. "I'm so happy to be with you, here, now."

"I never thought I'd ever find someone like you", he whispers back.

Ragnar kisses him again. "And now, I'm here."

"As I think you were meant to be, somehow."

"It just feels so perfectly right," Ragnar murmurs.

"And we can bring something to each other's lives."

"Many things," Ragnar says. "And we'll discover more and more of those."

"Every day we're together", he agrees softly.

Ragnar nods, and leans his forehead against Athelstan's.

He doesn't move, either away or closer, content to lie like that.

"We can stay here until it gets cold," Ragnar says.

"Yes. And then we can go inside, to the little room with the fireplace."

"And then think of other things to do," Ragnar says, sighing contentedly and closing his eyes, just for a little moment.

"I should think we can come up with something."

He pillows his head on Ragnar's chest.
